VHVHQ Annual Picnic

Every year Vets Helping Vets HQ hosts an annual picnic in the summer at a local park in our community. In the past we have hosted picnics at Timber Linn Park and Monteith Riverpark here in Albany, Oregon. There is always plenty of free food for those who attend, veterans, veteran family members, and others who support veterans in our community.

Vendors set up booths at the picnic representing the VA, the ODVA, VVA, various community services, and employers who are seeking veterans as employees.

In the past we have had guest speakers from the VA Regional Office and the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs who have spoken to the veterans about VA policies and claim services educating the veterans attending the picnic about changes in various policies in the Veterans Administration covering everything from medical care, the claims process, and homelessness.

There is always some kind of musical entertainment and fun and games for the young.

Vets Helping Vets HQ plans to continue this picnic tradition year after year and encourages veterans to attend these picnics for the comradery and the fun, as well as for having the opportunity to touch bases with organizations that serve veterans both locally and at the State and National levels.
