A volunteer office assistant assists VHVHQ by answering the phones and directing the incoming calls to VHVHQ personnel or by logging messages for staff members so they can call back at a later time. Assists veterans or veteran family members who are seeking assistance from VHVHQ by finding out what kind of assistance the veteran or veteran family member is seeking, filling out a first contact form, verifying that they are a veteran by obtaining a copy of their DD-214, and creating a client file. Make appointments for the client(s) to talk with a VHVHQ Veteran Advocate.
VHVHQ is open Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 3 pm. The day is divided into two shifts. Morning shift is from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and the afternoon shift is from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. You may sign up to do a morning, afternoon, or an entire day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
